How to Trim and Cut a Video Online (No Software Required)
Trimming a video — cutting off the beginning, end, or a middle section — is one of the most common editing tasks. You don't need Premiere Pro or iMovie for it. A browser-based tool does it in seconds.
When You Need to Trim a Video
- Remove the awkward silence at the start of a screen recording
- Cut off the end of a video before you stopped recording
- Extract a specific segment from a longer recording
- Shorten a video before sending it via WhatsApp or email
How to Trim a Video Online
- Open the [Video Trimmer](/tools/video-trimmer) tool.
- Upload your video file.
- Set the start time and end time for the segment you want to keep.
- Click Trim and download the result.
Does Trimming Reduce Quality?
No — trimming is a lossless operation. The video frames inside your selected range are not re-encoded. The codec, resolution, bitrate, and quality remain exactly the same as the original.
Trimming vs Cutting
- Trim — Remove from the start or end of a video (one-step operation)
- Cut — Remove a segment from the middle (requires splitting into two clips, then joining)
Our Video Trimmer handles both. Set start and end points to effectively cut any portion — whatever falls between those points is kept.
